First time shooting a band at a live gig, and discovered it`s not easy.
The shots came out grainy and soft, but I think I managed to capture the atmosphere and will be definitely giving it another go.
Presence are the band by the way, and they were playing The Studio, Hartlepool.
It`s all in the settings and knowing your camera.. practice practice practice.
Poppet Pictures
Here`s my journey in photography by a complete novice. I started this page to see if my pictures actually improved through time, pass on the things that I learn along the way and hopefully receive some tips from others.

Reeds
A trip out to the lakes.
I pulled over the car in a lay-by, which proved to have attracted many photographers.
After firing off the camera beside the other guys, I spotted the reed patch and got some low shots. I think they add to the shot, giving a sense of depth.

Glasses to 2012
I took some candid shots in my local, The Fisherman's Arms.
Trying to catch the flavor of the evening. It was a great night, full of laughs with a wide age range.
With everyone talking about photography projects for 2012, I`m thinking mine might be to document life in the local pub.
Most the shots were taken without a flash, something I`m planning to learn more about this year.

Gate out
The sky was dull, but I discovered a new setting on the camera.. high contrast black and white.
It really WOW`ed me, great contrast for stone work.
I added this shot to my Flickr map so I could find it again.
Smudge
Over the Christmas holidays, my long term girlfriend and her two cats moved in.
This has given me the opportunity to photograph cats.. and all that entails.
Getting down low seems to really get the shots, probably because you connect at their level.
Hope you enjoy pictures of cats as I`m sure there is more to come.

Jonny Mohun
I love taking pictures of people, trying to capture their personality.
I played with the exposure on this picture, and have to admit, like this one very much.

Competition winner
I`m a member of The Headland Photography Group, a lovely bunch of amateur and professional photographers.
Every two weeks we have a little themed competition, with the winner choosing the next theme.
This was my entry for "Autumn", which won!

Most of the great photographer`s on G+ seem to be landscape photographers from the US, here`s my attempt.
